Would it be smart to replace the RA bushings at the same time I replace the ball joints? Will it be an easier job to replace the RA bushings because the ball joints and related hardware will be out of the way?

Thanks,

Kevin

If they are both starting to go I would replace both. Are the RA bushing shot or going?

The ball joints are shot. I think the RA bushings are going but at the same time thought I might as well replace the RA bushings while I've got it apart.

DO IT! Yes I would recommend doing them both at the same time. That's the biggest pain in the butt, taking all the stuff apart. So I would if I was you.

Do either of those replacement parts merit a trip to Belle Tire for an alignment afterwards?

Absolutely!!

The stock RA bushings gradually wear out and if the front end was aligned during some degree of wear, it may be thrown off after the new bushings are installed. Besides, it makes just plain good sense to check the alignment for periodicity-sake, if nothing else.

I replaced my RA bushings, because they were squeeking and clunking. The RH side was more severe, due to it's accelerated wear by proximity to heat, from the catalytic converter. Wrap some insulation around the down-pipe, in proximity to the RH bushing to minimize heat damage to the RA bushing.

I strongly recommend that you use polyurathane bushings; they hold up much better. You can get a good quality set from NAPA.

How do you tell is your bearings and radius arm bushings are bad or going bad? Also, how much do they cost to replace?

Read my previous reply to ascertain the health of your RA bushings. Symptoms include squeeqing or clunking under the seats. More seriously, the vehicle may tend to push to the right or left because the axle becomes mis-aligned.

Ball joints will cause wobble when they are worn. Don't mistake this for worn shocks. Since this is an SUV, there will be a little play in the steering. Worn shocks will cause a bit more road wandering. Look at the wear patterns on your front tires. Rock your front tires back & forth to check for excessive play...could be your bearings or ball joints if it clunks around.

Adding to the subject, If the ball joints have been worn for a while, will that damage any of the surrounding parts? Maybe the steering knuckle?
