I pressed my new ball joints(bronco graveyard) into the knuckles a couple of months ago. About a week ago, I finally got a chance to start reassembling the Dana 44. I couldn't find any torque specs for the knuckles/ball joints. On Mitchell's, I couldn't find any torque specs for a 77 f150 4x4, and the closest thing I could get was an 83 F150 2wd. The torque specs were 150 ft/lbs for top and bottom. That's what I torqued mine to, but they seem way too stiff (seems like it would be hard to steer). The knuckles on my Dana 35 were able to turn very easily. Does anybody know the torque specs for the d44 (77 f150)? Any info on setting preload, etc? I've never done ball joints before, so I don't know if they are supposed to feel stiff until they're broken in.

Thanks in advance, Bryan

EDIT: Are these the correct torque specs for the 77?

did you ever find out? i m having the same problem with my 79 D44

I ended up using the torque specs listed in the link from the first post. They knuckles turn a LOT more like they're supposed to(not extremely stiff like before).
