Hello
I have a 97 Explorer, when I bout the car the A/C didn't work, But I'm just trying to figure out what the problem is. Anyways, when I turn on the A/C on other cars I can hear the engine trying a bid harder and the clutch of the A/C kick in, but on my car, there is no sound difference at all. I don't even hear the A/C clutch kick in :( Could this be for the A/C compressor or is it leaking? if its licking should I still hear the compressor?

Compressor will not come on if too low. There is a low pressure cut-off switch.

It starts there and IF you're lucky it'll be fixed soon w/ little cost.

Or you could end up changing out a lot of parts and still be w/ only cool air.

IMHO.............go to a GOOD automotive A/c shop.............pay the fee for a check up........it might be as simple as low on refrigerant. Or, it could end up costing you a whole bunch:

My sad story........http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=164634

Aloha, Mark
