I nearly wrecked my X after going threw a trail with moderate mud puddles, When i was on my way home i came to a red light and the brakes were mush! I thought i would have to get new ones but i got home parked it and in the morning they worked just fine? Is my abs borked? or maybe a sensor? for the abs?

It is possible that your brakes were comlpletely caked in mud and thus nearly useless.

clean them,

Did you check to make sure all of your brake lines and hoses are still in good shape? could have a damaged line, or hose.

Getting off a trail always check your brakes before hitting the pavement, wet or muddy brakes dont work well. Yours probably were wet if the mud had a lot of water in the holes.
If you were in a bunch of mud it would be wise to pull the drums and clean the innards, relube the cables and shoes, check the adjusters. The front discs should be ok, but cleaning the slides and checking the bearings wouldnt be a bad idea.

Good Luck.
