I was bored so I went to AutoZone.

I bought two 194 sockets and two 194 white bulbs. I used some wire and this is the result..

Dead Link Removed

It is a little blurry because I moved the camera too much on accident but you get the general idea.

I really like them. They come on when the door is open or I switch the dome light on.

Mark....That looks really good.
Guess you know what I'll be doing soon.......
Thanks for the pix.

how hard is it to wire something like that? I have wired my CB thats bout it.

Thanks Bill..

It was that hard to do. I spliced it off the black/blue wire that I found near the huge harness on the drivers side kick panel and just ran the wire. It was rather easy.. (20-25 min job).

Are those wired to a switch or do they come on when you open a door or just when you turn on the headlights?

They come on when either door is open or you turn the headlight switch all the way to the right so the dome light comes on.

Looks good! Did you ever think of making them red running lights off the headlights. Give it that "Red Alert!look.

I thought about doing something like that.. not sure though.

I might change the bulb color.

maybe try flashers too haha

Good going on the lights but I could never do it.
It would be a constant reminder how dirty my rugs are.
Maybe that would be a good thing.. I would inspire me to clean them more often.

Great idea!

My Daytona has a light on the steering column that shines down on your feet for a couple seconds after you open a door. I have been wanting something similiar for my Explorer.
How did you go about finding the right wire?

What kind of wire did you use? Are the sockets easy to hook up? Did you run a wire from each side, IE for the driver and passenger side? I like the way that looks a lot :) Please give me some more info I would like to try doing it also

very nice, adds a luxury look to your ride, I've always wondered why ford didn't put lights under there for courtesy.. very nice idea, I still hafta say I like my neon better tho :P I'm weird like that, sorry!

u think we can also put a pair at the rear passenger under the seat? hhmmm.....

How did you physically attach the light sockets to whatever you attached them too?

Thanks in advance....

Same Thing

I have the same thing like that, i bought 4 neon 10" street glow light tubes and stuck 2 in the front and 2 in the back and they are just like that, with a switch in the center console where the tissue holder is. Its really cool and makes the car looked pimped. I am going to post some pics, but just another idea since it is so similar to what eric did with his 93 sport (nice job by the way :=)

What I did was find a spot where I wanted them and used some black zip ties and tied them up. I'm sure there is a better way to do it, but this way works as well. ;)

how come the door lights don't come on when the door is open? Did you eliminate those by splicing the wire?
Thanks

All the lights come on when the door is open.

ohh, it just didn't look like it from the picture.
