Batt light on for 1 sec only

My battery light on my 96 came on for one sec twice in the last 2 months. The volt gauge doesnt seem to move. Is this a Bad Batt or Alternator. Car has 128,000 miles on original Alternator. Is there any place that can test it for me like Autozone.

Also there was a gut on ebay selling alternators, anyone ever buy one off him

If your battery is more than 5 years old I would start there. If it's fairly new then next one to check would be the alternator. There is a tool you could buy for cheap that could test this. It tells you whether the battery or the alternator is defective.
