has anyone had their battery up and die? i have a 2007 4.6l with the 3 valve and 4x4. mine was fine last night, but this morning... dead as could be. here's the kicker, no interior lights or buzzer, key dinged, buzz, buzz, buzz on the starter turned off key all dash lights went nuts by flashing, even when the key was pulled out. tried to check battery with a volt meter but it semed like it wanted to weld the probs to the posts, and no reading. just wondering if anyone else had this happen and if it may have took the alternator with it. help please! jim

yes that is common for car batteries to do that.. they barely show any signs/warning of them dying... same thing happened on my 00 XLS and my wife's maxima, pretty much just died over night..

feels better

well it was JUST the battery. great! when the wife's mustang battery died it took the alternator with it and this time it would be a 3 day wait for the part..... thanks to the motor god it was just the battery!!!!!!!

I wouldn't think that batteries just die, but mine died on Valentine's Day. I have an 08' Ranger (with the OEM Motorcraft), and I hadn't experienced any problems. I got out of work, did some errands, and my last stop was Wal-Mart. I went in and came out and experienced the same symptoms -- my keychain wouldn't unlock and nothing when I tried to start the vehicle. I was able to get jumped, and I drove to Sears (where they did a load test). It was determined that my battery was dead.

Same thing happened to our 00 xls last Wednesday at church. My wife doesn't pay attention to thimgs like that but I noticednwhen she cranked it to leave it hesitated slightly. Then after church she called me freaking me freaking out saying it wouldn't start. I told her OT was the 7 year old everlast battery gave up cause she called my baby a piece of junk. So I went and jumped it off. Charged it overnight and it won't even start a lawn mower. It was working "fine" the day before. Next to motorcraft batteries I trust everstart maxx, and carquest batteries, all of which I've had last over 6 years. Try that with an optima. I'm lucky o get 4 years from one of them and they cost 3 times as much. Sorry for the long post and the rambling but yes OT happens.
