People will chime in and say Optima, but if you have no need for a smaller case battery, then the doubled price of one is not worth it. Go with any battery that has 900 Cold Cranking Amps+ and you can't go wrong.

wait wait... it depends on what your using the truck for... if its just a DD, and you don't have a winch or you do and you never use it.... then I agree an optima or other hi performance battery is probably un-needed. but if you are off-roading, and using the winch alot, it might be worth at least looking into a good deep cycle/marine battery. I personally don't do any off-roading, have no winch and just use a 900 CCA battery as advised above. but I would hate to see you stall out/shut down to take a leak on the trail after running your winch for a good bit, and not have enough power left to be able to restart.... of course if you are running a winch alot you probably want a higher performance alternator too....
********edit went down here*********
the way that review reads that battery is for the guys who have the 15 amps and 30 speakers who try and either bust out the windows or burn the car to the ground if they short it out.

optima, Figure its double the price of a regular battery, BUT It wil last 2x or 3x longer and will have more reliability than a regular battery

Not to be mean. Well let's not look at the price and look at the specs. Now which one would you guys prefer. I just want performance and the BEST!

the best hands down is Optima, that thing your looking at is, as I said really meant for audio people who are not looking for a rugged battery, but a battery that can discharge power for music, but if this is what your looking for, you need to look at capacitors any way, since they will deliver the power your looking for...

once again, Optima has a Long history of being the best, its used for racing and serious off-roaders, its used by people who design one off electric cars, because of its long standing record of performance of rugged stability... so if you want the best, you know Everyones response, Optima is It. if Stinger Power was the best, we woulda heard of it before......

Walmart used to sell a grey Everstart (I think) battery that was like 925 cca or so that had an exoskeleton design, which I used for 6 years without a hitch, it sat in a S-10 pickup with a rusted out battery tray so it wobbled around all the time, and got beat every time my stupid young self drove it.... it was in the truck when I sold it, and its prolly still in there, if the truck didn't fall apart around it, I seriously doubt that battery cost more than $49.99 or so back then, and it was cheap compared to a die hard, or other brand... and I give it props, I even went looking for another when I bought a new battery for my Explorer.... but if I was building a bouncing behemoth of a 4x4 again, I would get optima..

I am actually thinking of putting a 3200 watt power inverter and running some heavy machine equipment from it. You think the Optima would handle it ok?

I have only seen Optima in red.
Do you have a choice ?

Ya! Yellow and Blue too. I think red is the prettier one though :p and the cheaper!

blue will look better since I have blue wires and hoses.

Yes I am that ****.

I want an Optima, but which one do I get. When I look on jegs it's all numbers, can anyone give me a part number or a link to the exact one that will fit my 91.

Ok let me ask you a few questions. First your other thread says you have a 93. also are you putting a v8 in it or not? The motor choice will make a difference.
now a 3200 watt inverter is big buiseness. Have you ever seen one? They are HUGE and have 2 huge grounds and 2 huge pos lines. Like 0 gauge or Bigger. They also drink juice link you cant imagine. You would NEED a optima or something and would be better off with 2. plus your alternator cant even come close to handling the load. which inverter are you using? i use a 3000 watt trip lite a lot on a 7.3 powerstroke with 2 200 amp alternators (rescue truck)

I got an Optima red-top And I'm really happy with it. Most of the reason that I'm happy with it is because.... I now have an optima red-top! I got it at Sears and I didn't think the $130 was all that bad to have what most people will say is the best battery widely available right now. If I had a winch or lots of lights I might have gone with a Yellow-top. Still might later on. Just my opinion, but I say go with what you really like. If not, you'll just wish you had.
