Towards the end of August I'll taking a well deserved week off for vacation. The question I have is how possible is it for the battery to cause problems starting after sitting for 5 days? I've never had problems on the X starting but then again it never sat for more than a day before being started. The battery is less than two years old.

you should be fine.

Yeah, you should be fine. We had a jeep sit at our shop for about 2 weeks without moving it, and the bat was barely good. :D

You shouldn't have any problem as long as A) the battery is in good condition (a two year old battery should be ok) and B) you don't have any significant current drain from any devices on the truck (like an alarm which draws more current than normal, etc).

If you are really concerned, you could get a battery cutoff device, to make sure there is no drain while you are gone, but this is probably not necessary.

Yeah the only thing I can think of that might drain the battery is the stock alarm. I'm going to see whether or not I have problems with it prior to going on vacation. Unfortunately I'm going to drive my 96 Blazer for a couple days and see whether or not my X has any problems starting. Or I just might shell out $50 and get one those jump starting packs. Been thinking about getting one with an onboard air compressor since its so portable.

I have seen a battery start a car after a year of sitting! I could not believe it....

depends on the battery........

you should be fine though.....

I had my truck sit in a mechanic shop for 2 months and the battery just drained a little but you should be fine buddy :D

You should be fine, but if you are concerned, VW makes solar panels for their cars for when it is going to be sitting for a few days. It simply plugs into the cigarette lighter and sticks onto the windsheild with suction cups. They are on EBay all the time for like $10.

Unless the battery is a POS or you have other mechianical problems, it will start.
