OK, put the Granatelli and BBK on today. Had to adjust the cable/set screw on the BBK to get a nice 700-800 rpm idle. It will idle fine at startup but after you hit the gas it hangs at 1200-1500 rpms. I removed one of the zip ties for the throttle cable mod but that is not causing the hangup.

Is the throttle plate tight? Is there a simple screw or adjustment I can make so that it will fall back to normal idle after given gas? If you can help, Christmas really will have come early.

Thanks, Ross

You know I'm not exactly sure, but after I did the ziptie mod, for about 4 days after i gave it gas, it would hang around 1000-1500 rpm, but after like 4-7 days, it went back to normal, don't know why, maybe the throttle cable was loosening up a bit.

Or maybe let your computer get used to the new stuff.

Can't you clear your computer by disconnecting the battery, and holding the horn in for like a minute, I know that's how you do it on my dads f350, we do that about every 4 months.

I'll keep my eye on it. It doesn't bother me that much but wanted to know if this is a common problem with the install.

Now that I think about it.......

After installing my BBK I had the same issue. The throttle (or RPMs) still don't slide down to 800 ALL the time. Maybe half the tim, after coming to a stop, the RPMS take a while to get below 1500, or don't at all.

I pulled the TB off today and tightened the two springs that close the throttle plate and it helps. Drive still lingers around 900-1000 and idle is at 1000-1100. If I bump the gas pedal while in drive (at a stop) it will kick down to a balmy 700, right where I like it.

In summary, it's better but still needs some tinkering.

I think Alec had a vacum leak on his when it first went together. I would think the vacum leak could be masked by the IAC. The IAC may be trying to compensate for the vacum leak by lowering the idle, that could be why it takes some time for the idle to come down on it's own.

Just a guess...

Rick, if so, what is the next step? I reused that crappy TB gasket (paper?) from the old TB (BBK didn't come with one) and made sure I had a good hose connection. I'll dbl ck the vacuum but I honestly don't think that's it. I'll get to it tomorrow in daylight and try and find the hang up. Most likely culprit is the actual length of the throttle cable.

After every possible scenario I cannot get the BBK to function properly. I put the OEM TB on and it works perfectly. The BBK isn't even that much bigger either. I wonder if it's a mod that's really worth the $$?

My mistake. I thought you were talking about a BBK supercharger.

Did you try to swap the throttle position sensor from one TB to the other? Maybe you have a bad sensor.

No, b/c when I switched it back the rpms fell right back down to 700-750ish. With the BBK off I paid very close attention to its operation and I could feel the plate hanging in a couple places. Also, the idle screw would fully seat under complete spring tension; but if there is just a little, like moving up in stop n go traffic, it would never fully seat leaving the roms hanging at 1100ish. Man, I'm frustrated and pist.

Sounds defective take it back.
