EXPLORER YEAH!!!
So for the second time now my front right bearing has blew up from what I'm suspecting is overheating the first time I deemed my fault for not following specs on tightening the spindle locking nuts or what you use for the manual hubs. But this time I know I followed the correct specs as well as I could and now I blew it again. Any ideas on what might be happening?

How are your brakes? A stuck or sticking caliper will cause drag.
Your sitting on 33's?

What kind of bearings are you installing? Quality makes a difference. I have had good luck with Timken bearings. Not so much with store brand, they typically last me a month with stock tires.

Have you looked at the bearing race? The ttb front end on a friends old f-series was worn out of round, causing monthly bearing replacement until we noticed the out of round hole... maybe worth checking with a caliper.

If you have a micrometer style caliper that will check inside diameter, stick it into the opening and open the "jaws" on the caliper then rotate it around to see if the race is out of round. It's a bit of a long shot, but worth sharing my experience.

Good luck!

Turns out the bearing is fine which is weird. Getting a large clunk from below the car feels like something is seizing then releasing and seizing again. Maybe something rolling. We found some wear on the rear drive shaft ujoints so we are replacing those tomorrow. Just don't feel like that could make such a hard clunking noise. Any ideas?

When is it clunking?sounds like RA bushings or broken hubs.you still have auto hubs?

Also possibly the axle pivot bushings. You may have to get a crow bar in there to get enough leverage to see it flop.

It clunks when rolling forward or backward. I have the manual hubs and my ra bushing are pretty new. It's a lot more jolt then those could make too. Its a loud clunk and feels like your rolling a lopsided log or if my tires were square it rolls then clunk rolls then clunk. Last time I took it to a shop they did they my axle pivot bushings were pretty worn. I'll take a look. Do you just put a crowbar between the shafts and give it a tug?

I wedged it between the arm and the bracket at the bushing to see if there was any play. To check for vertical play, I watched the bushing location as I slowly lifted the weight of the vehicle off with a jack, I watched to see if the arm drooped at the bushing very much.

I had a similar noise on my B2, new DS in with new joints & bam all gone. I was shocked.

Found the problem today! The lsd or spider gears literally blew up. Opened the diff up and it had lots of metal shavings inside so the ring and pinion look fine but I will be replacing the lsd soon. Anyone know of rebuilt ones or any cheap fixes? Maybe upgrades in the same price range?

Its not a ls.its a open.put a aussie in it if you got manual hubs;)

Haha o well we also found that the pinion got chewed up so im buying a new axle tomorrow got one for $250 lined up just going to replace the whole deal instead of buying pieces. Do you know if I can just buy 4.56 gears for the rear and not the front and get by? Or would that screw everything up? I am running 33's on stock gears which I'm assuming is why they broke. But I dont want to spend the money on the front because I want to sas soon. And I dont wheel enough right now to be using 4wd.
