can anyone here tell me how close dorman 620-119 is to the explorer radiator size.

if I cant get an answer tonight thats fine ill find out when I go into work tomorrow at carquest

seems you cant buy a mark 8 fan assembly new anymore:mad:

so Im guessing the fan from a interceptor will be just as good

Post #1 has info from Dorman on the fan in question as well as others. Not size though. I believe an '10 mustang fan damn near mounts up while looking stock.

What's going to get you with these fans, is the inrush amps. They're at 100 amperes or higher. They don't run at that, but they draw that at start up. High potential to ruin a controller or relays.

I went with a 2000 Mustang 4.6l fan, stuffed into the stock shroud then mounted. Too much customization though. Inrush was only 60 amps, which a 40 amp fuse holds no problem.

Good luck on the sizing. Or did you figure it out already?

Haven't messed with it anymore yet. I was thinking for the start up amps using something like a capacitor maybe that would give it the initial boost to get turning.

I remember the 88 f150 I had I used the fans off a 95ish firebird. It fit the radiator perfect.

Only problem I had with it was ****ty snap switches that turned it on ran great with the oe amp alternator.

I want to make it look as professional as possible without hacking up 100000 different parts lol

Here's my conversion thread. It was important to me to have it look stock when done.

I'm going to do it again to my 2005, but I'll go a different route that requires less modification. And probably do the Volvo fan controller method instead of buying the flex a lite controller. Note, the flex a lite controller has worked great, just looking at a less expensive option.

I'll post my findings when I get something figured out. The stock fan is 20" wide I think and the radiator surface is 21"x25". Pretty sure that's what I measured today.

Worst case scenario I'll mount a fan between the condenser and radiator. 16"x21" .... Got to get something figured out lol I think I'm going to tackle a back flush on the heater core and flush the system out before it gets cold out
