Today I just bought a used 2000 Explorer sport. 4x2. When i started the car it beeps 4 times with one second intervals, stops for about 5 seconds and does it again. I thought maybe it was low fuel. I got gas, same thing. It stopped once i started driving. It then started again in stop and go traffic. and then once again going 70 mph on the highway. they were probably in 20 min intervals. does anyone know what the problem is? thanks

Do you have your seatbelt on?? :D

haha, yeah i do. i was thinking it could be that, and maybe theres a malfunction with the seatbelt.

I think the ding is from the seat belt. Your dome lights aren't coming on when they're not supposed to, right? Mine were doing that for a while. And I think it would ding.. but the 'door ajar' light would come on too.

nope the dome light is fine. no lights are coming on on the dash, ie door ajar, check engine, etc. i guess im going to have the car checked out

Does it have a non-stock radio receiver? I have a Pioneer and it has some security feature that beeps three times when I turn the car off.

Do you see your seat belt indicator flashing when it beeps?? If so, it's probably a malfunction sensor at the seat belt anchor, provided that you're wearing your seatbelt. It's the beltminder system. I think it's gay but hey, it actually works, I think...
