Best Bolt-Ons?

Searching for a new fuel tank, I believe mines rusted pretty bad.

? Plastic tanks are stock on all explorers. Not that it wouldnt be dirty, but just drop and flush will clean it right up.

Yeah, they're plastic fuel tanks. The top plate of the fuel pump and the lock ring for it do rust up pretty bad, though. When you drop the tank to change the pump, be sure you get a whole fuel pump assembly (not just the pump itself), and a new lock ring, then clean up the inside of the tank with a magnet and/or wipe up any rust residue and you're good to go.

Are headers really worth it? Do they make any computer codes come up? What would make the best milage?

I just always thought it was a bad idea to run syntheic with high mileage engines. I dont know why i said leak, I used syntheic oil once and my truck smoked a little out of the exhaust if i stepped on it and the level went down without it leakin, but my truck does get beat a little to much.

I've been running royal purple in mine for a while now and it doesn't leak anymore than it used too. Though I deffinatley suggest using an oil stabilizer such as Lucas on the older engines or it canmake funny noises cause of how light the oil is. Mine runs like a champ with Restore added to the oil and I don't burn a bit!

Did you change the grade of oil to make it "lighter"?

the only thing I've ever heard with synthetic oil is that it's not a good idea to change from natural oil to full synthetic in a vehicle say like my 93 Explorer Sport with 200,000 miles on it that has run nothing but all natural oil all it's life. Actually I believe the person that told me that said that in that situation it would probably be a good idea if you did change over to synthetic to go ahead and replace the seals so you don't end up with leaking or burning oil because the synthetic oil molecules are lighter and smaller than natural oil and the older seals like on my vehicle may or may not be worn enough to allow the smaller molecule to pass where they the work well enough for the natural oil....

I don't really know if it's true or not. I can't afford synthetic so I still fun natural oil.

I do have a question in regards to mods though. For the exhaust, I'm planning on changing everything out from the cat back. What is a good size piping to go up to. I'm not even sure what the factory size is.

If its not leaking oil prior to switching to synthetic oil, it shouldn't leak after the switch.

That's what I was thinking. I always thought the people telling me otherwise were full of crap.

Anyway, what is a good diameter to go up to for the 93 explorer on the exhaust after the cats. I'm not even sure what it is factory but I think it's a 2 in diameter.

Right now my explorer is leaking oil no matter what from the left hand valve cover. I'm gonna be replacing the gasket soon enough, just don't have the time right now.
