50 series is prolly your best bet then.

I'd say go with the 50 or 70 series. The 40 and 44 series are going to be your more aggressive mufflers. I have the 50 SUV series and i really like it but i also have the 4.0. Its a 3 chamber muffler so i think it would give you the moderate tone you are looking for.

I am going to say 70 series because that's what I have I don't care for tips but I'd say a 3" slash cut tip would look good. You can order the muffler/tip from either Summit, Jegs, your shop can order it, any autoparts store, etc. Just shop around and see who gives you the best deal.

most exhaust shops will usually have a bunch of tips in stock so you can pick and choose through those too. Ive found that the shops around me sell them pretty cheap.

I've got a 2002 with the 4.6 liter. Earlier this year I put a 40 series on there with the rest of the exhaust bone stock. Sounds great. Not too loud, but gives a nice throaty deep sound. Very good sound, made a nice improvement in throttle response and a little bit of seat-of-the-pants gain. No tickets or complaints from anyone since I put it on.

I prefer flowmaster because I love the sound, but it depends on what you like and want. Magnaflow usually cost a little more and you can get them in stainless.(I think?)

But from a performance standpoint, the gain is minimal between the two.

I'm close enough to ya...if your ever down in the Akron area you can hear what mine sounds like for yourself. Best way to hear the actual sound is in person. I have an '04 with the 4.6. I'm running a Flowmaster 50 series.
