Well....no problem with questions...just would be easier to answer them in person when ya come to check my Ex out rather than type messages on here. I modified my last vehicle (Ford Ranger) as well as my Ex. I was a Ford mechanic for 10 yrs prior to getting full time on the f.d. so I'll give ya whatever advice u want.

ok sounds great there's a lot of things i want to do to my EX and thanks for the help in advance

I got a 40 Flowmaster with 2.5" pipe. Its loud to a point that its become annoying especially going up a hill. First and second gears are the worst! However, if you are just cruising the streets and do not jack rabbit the throttle, it has a perfect rumble to it. Cruising at 55, perfect rumble!

I'm thinking, my next exhaust will be 2.25" 50 flowmaster.

i think im going to go with the 50 series also

I did...except for the body work and exhaust work....and I have the 50 series on mine so you can hear what it sounds like so u can make sure u like it before u buy it. I work on a 24 hour shift at the fire dept every 3 days so shoot me a private message on here when u have some spare time and we'll figure something out.

yeah i'd say go with the 50 series and upgrade your piping to 2.5" but no larger than that. There are several different 50 Series models as well, such as the original, big block, suv, and delta flow. they all vary in exterior and interior resonance, so you can pick and choose which you would like. check out the flowmaster site so read more about them:

I have the 50 SUV series and it sounds pretty good with my 4.0. So thats just my $.02

will the 70 series mufflers have a drone at any rpm range? I drive a lot of miles and don't want it to be ridiculous.

Does anyone have sound clips of a flowmaster 70 replacement for the stock muffler but still using the stock 2.25" pipes? Also, what part number would I need to order? I have looked through the 4.0 exhaust clip thread but its just too long!

Thanks

i can tell you that the 70 series will be the quietest of the flowmaster series... you will have i would guess slightly increased exhaust tone, but not rediculous by any means

when i get to my exhaust im either going to do one or two setups...

1. 2.5'' non resonated 70 series CBE...

2. 2.5'' non resonated 50 series CBE...

havent decided yet... i just know im not going 40 series with my new X...

Good, I am interested in having just a bit more sound, but not enough to be any annoyance at all on the highway. I drive a lot with coworkers and need to be able to speak to each other, but it's still my personal vehicle so want some extra noise.

Which part should I order, single inlet centered and single outlet centered/offset/ sizing? What length is the stock muffler vs this one?

See above your post for vids. I have the 70 series and I love it. I also have the 3rd cat gone with 2.5" exhaust, so if you replace only the muffler, it should be quieter. Mine does not drone at all and if it matters, I am hearing impaired(80% loss) and can still hold a conversation while driving.

the stock muffler is HUGE, like 22'' long i think, i would guess atleast 12'' wide...

when you switch to a flowmaster muffler, you will need to add a little bit of pipe...

Basically a 70 series Flowmaster:D

but a flowmaster muffler is like 4'' thick...

ok let me change my estimate measurements...

22'' Long x 12'' Wide x 10'' Tall

rough guess... its like a small keg lol...

Why is the 70 series so much more expensive than other mufflers? I would like to know why it's more than twice what I could get other mufflers for. Are there comparable mufflers sound wise to this by other brands?
