I've been looking at several Rangers and they all have an open 8.8 w/4.10's. I'd really prefer a factory limited slip but aside from a complete axle swap or diff. carrier change what drop-in locker would you recommend for a daily driver?

...I would suggest an Aussie locker...:biggthump

...If you do a search on here for "Aussie", you will find a lot of info including lot's of reviews and a thread from Aussie locker themselves...They are a member here to...;)

Depending on your use, you may find a limited-slip will be sufficient/better for your application.

If so, I suggest either a Torsion (by Zexel) or a TrueTrac by Detroit (now Eaton.)

I have a Torsen in the back of each of my trucks, and a TrueTrac in the front of my '93. If you do not absolutely need a locker, in my opinion, a limited slip is the preferred alternative.

Unfortunately they don't make a locker for an open 8.8 w/28 spline axles.:(

Now is the perfect opportunity to swap in a 31-spline 8.8 from either a Ranger FX4 Level II or an Explorer.

lock rite is pretty good no replacement of carrier is neccessary if you relearn how to drive with one it can be unnoticable

I have a mini spool for a 8.8 28 spline will that work in my 99 ex sport?
