Hey,

don't want to reinvent the wheel. Just want to buy a remote starter / alarm for my gf and my mom, but don't want to read for three days trying to figure it all out.

Recommendations?

thanks, Shawn

Depends on what you really want and the type of vehicles they are going into. Some vehicles will need a bypass of some sort. This will add to the cost of it.

some brands include viper (dei), autopage, audiovox, compustar. There are also your cheap ebay chineese brands. If you are going to install it yourself, then you can try these. But if you plan to go somewhere ask first. Most shops will not install a cheap brand alarm/starter. If they do they will charge for every addon (keyless, trunk pop,...) even if the alarm offers it.

My thought are you can take a cheaper alarm with a good installer and not have any problems, or take a good alarm with a ****ty installer and have nothig but problems.

Thanks for responding!

I am very, very good at installing things, so its' gonna be a DIY job. In one case, I am pulling the remote start I already installed a few years ago.

I was looking for brand / unit recommendations, because I don't keep up with it.

I have done some google, and the googler seems to have a lot of people down on dei products.

So, instead of weeding through multiple tiers from multiple manufacturers (which used often times used to be the same product just rebranded), I was hoping some people would pop on and say, hey, get the model z. simple to operate for the end user, decent alarm, decent rs, and works with power lock systems.

I am already ordering the PATS II kit for Moms' ride.

Thanks again!

Shawn
