Best tire for a 2wd v8 explorer for boat ramps

What do u guys think is the best tire for my stock 16" wheels for boat ramps ... and my truck is 2wd

40 inch swamper tsl's. Just kidding, any all terrain of your choosing should be just fine.

Only thing I am concern is ramp cover in algae those won't help you get boat up.


I believed good tires should be fine and lower rear tires from what psi they rated to drop like 10-20 psi lower it will have great traction but you need air compressor with you to fill tires back their normal rated psi.

I'm running Goodyear Wrangler DuraTracs (31x10.50x15) and I've been on like two boat ramps, not too much algae though. I have a friend that runs Nitto Mud Grapplers that pulls a boat religiously and he swears by them.

i have all terrain tires on my explorer and tow a bass boat, 18 footer with a 150 , i do not have to use the 4wd to pull my boat out ,

the 4wd is where im lacking im not worried about power ... some of the ramps around here are dirt and city does not up keep them ... along with some of the concrete ramps iv been on are like walking on ice

if you can, i would suggest a set of lockers. that way, if you hit a patch of algae on one wheel, it wont spin out. the lockers will give you full power to both wheels.

Were not saying your worried about power, but you won't have an issue with a boat that small regardless of power or tires.

I would be in absolute shock if you couldn't pull that boat on a slick ramp with stock tires. If your ready for new tires then there's no downside to upgrading to something with a slightly more aggressive tread, but if your tires are in good shape don't waste the money.

You will be fine.
