Has anyone installed any of the big bore throtle bodies on their truck? Is it worth the expense to get one? And which brand?Size? Any input would be appreciated.

After installing a throttle body do you see and increase, decrease, or no change in gas millage.

Thanx

I agree with Mike. The performance increase you get from a larger throttle body depends on if it is the first mod you make or the last mod. It's all about getting a larger amount of fuel/air in and out more quickly. I'm sure I've given away a little gas mileage but not much... and I still use 87 octane. Also that's running 31x10.5s.

Don't waste your money unless you intend to or already have your explorer significantly "beefed up." I have a Flomaster exhaust, High Flow Cat, KKM Air intake, 73mm Vortech Mass Air Sensor, 66mm BBK Throttle body Jacobs wires and Bosch 4 plugs.
My last two installs were the Mass air sensor and throttle body. There was no real gain in horsepower when I installed both units. There is a better throttle response for passing - for the money, I would save a little more and go with headers. The MAS and throttle body will be more noticable if you are using a supercharger or my next purchase Nitrous Oxide from vanirtech.com

Thank you all for your input. The mods I've made to my truck are as follows:borla headers, flowmaster exhaust, kkm rev kit, centerforce gold clutch,130 amp alternator, hella fog lights,300w kenwood amp, sony 10 disk cd changer and polk speakers. I had a jet chip but was unimpresed with the performance gain and returned it. Seems like everybody here likes the superchip above all else so I'm going to try it. So what do you think, mass air or throttle bodie next? Thanks again.
