Is there one that exist? I googled, check EE checked tire rack ect. No one seems to make one. I am going to be putting on 18s or 19" stock mustang wheels. I look at my sisters 2010 Explorer with the factory 20s and those tiny little disks and the feel of my brakes are meh over all.

Any one make them, or can I swap them in from another car with larger discs? I know on Volvo you could mount XC90 14" rotors and calipers on S40s. Didn't know if something shared the same mounting ect...

Thanks all

Only the special and OEM recalled Saleen brake kit was ever used, as the link above which Eric got metal brackets for. Those are very rare because almost all of the 120 or so XP8's had them taken off by dealers, for the recall. The aluminum OEM brackets were not street worthy. Some members with ingenuity have put together the parts, along with custom steel brackets.

The other choice is custom brakes, I did that first many years ago. I used bigger calipers than stock, bigger than the Alcons, plus custom two piece rotors, and made brackets for them.

There is a lesser choice, but not worth the effort unless all you want is prettier brakes. The late 90's Cobra PBR calipers look better than stock, and some have combined them with custom brackets and Corvette rotors, drilled to fit. The result is less brake pressure, because the calipers are smaller than stock. Those are fine for stock wheeled trucks, but not for towing much or for heavier wheels.

I shall eventually build a new set of brackets to use bigger calipers that I found a while back. After that I will sell a combination of parts I have that use my current custom brackets.

In any case, use the lightest wheels and tires that you can. OEM rims are typically much lighter than aftermarket wheels. Most of those are cast, very heavy, and that really hurts performance. Much bigger tires do the same thing.

Factory 15" wheels/tires weight about 53lbs. Once you get wheels/tires that are over 65lbs, braking times will be much longer.

You can use a 01+ sport / sport trac spindle and rotor combo for 1" bigger discs. You still have your stock caliper bracket and caliper.

True, that's the fourth option, I did that in 2005 on my 99 Limited. It gains you a 1" bigger rotor, but I couldn't tell the difference.
