Big Jerk when I put it in reverse.

Every time i put my car in reverse there is a big jerk when it engages. I had my Transmission rebuilt about a year ago and it is still under warranty. Should I be worried about this?

It might just be the u-joints. tranny was also rebuild a year ago, and I get the same sound/jerk. At least I hope it is only the u-joints. Good luck

when i first got my X (not brand new) it had about 1.5-2 seconds of hesitation before going into reverse, and then kicked in. since then i'm on my third tranny and it still hesitates, so as long as you don't accelerate before it goes into gear, it should be fine.

mine did the same thing when i bought it used took it to a ford dealer 2 times and they say theres nothing wrong with the tranny or u joints

Look at

www.atcdg.com and click on tech. Scan down to A4LD problems. Any older A4LD has this problem to some degree and this new seal design on the low/reverse servo cures it. Some also drilled out the fill hole to get fluid in faster. Replacing the O ring can be done easily by dropping the pan. There is a procedure written here on page 2.
