I am having problems with my '93 X. It just all of a sudden decided to start being REALLY SLOW, especially when going up-hill on the highway. I haven't added any mods to it for awhile, and I just had the oil changed a couple weeks ago and also had my engine checked to see if that was the problem. Any suggestions on what it could be?? Thanks in advance-

Well, this can be tough to diagnose, so I'll tell you the way I would go. I would change the fuel filter, clean/change the air filter, Change plugs and wires. clean the MAF with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip, and use some fuel injector cleaner. If these things don't help, it could be bad O2 sensors or something else. Keep us informed.

If you haven't changed the fuel filter in the last year, I'd start there.

how often should the fuel filter be changed?
i bought my explorer last november and had a new fuel filter put in the first week.

I would start by checking your gas pedal. Maybe it's broke and doesn't work right!!!

Check out the air filter, may be something is clogging the inlet to your air fileter or your air filter is totally clogged.

Also check to see if your exhaust/tail pipe looks any differently than normal. If it's all black with carbon deposit on it, chances are you may have a bad fuel pressure regulator.

I guess it could be a problem with the gas peddle ;) I am gonna start to check all of those items suggested. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for all the help!
