I have a ford explorer XLTV6SOHC with up to 140,000miles. Recently, I can hear
whine from front end. It sounds like it is caused by heavy friction of front tires on the road. But I am not sure. When I driving over 50mph, the sound becomes rhythmic popping and it is very apparent to hear. I can not stand the huge noise and following vibration in highway. It is surprising that the sound totally disappears when I am steering right on the road. I have replaced all low and upper ball joints, but have it not aligned. I don't know if it is caused by poor alignment. Thanks in advance.

Have you checked the front wheel bearings/hubs? That is my guess as to where to start looking. You say that it goes away when turn right. That would move the stress on the bearings.
I would jack up one wheel and then spin the tire and grab ahold of it and see if it wiggles and makes noise. Then do the same to the other side and see how that one is.
Just my thoughts. Good luck and let us know what it is.
