hello all
my name is troy amaya and i am new to this fourm
okay my problem is this ill give you guys a break down of what has happed

I bought my 94 ford explorer XLT 4x4 about a year ago and it ran fine untill bout 5months ago.
first my alternator ceased up on me when i was driving and broke my serpentine belt so i got it home and this is when it a started
i changed out the alternator and belt with new ones from autozone and the car ran fine for about 2week
then when i drove i noticed that my turn signals and ac and heater wouldnt work and my amps reading was low.
so i took the alt. back and replaced and got a new battery and it was fixed for a bout a month then it happened again but this time sometimes the amps read fine and the turn signals worked ac everyhting then i shut it off and start it and the amps would be low and signals ac didnt wrk it did this for awhile until finally the signals and ac heater stopped working 4 good
yet the amps were still low
i took it to autoaone and the batery and alt passed
this is where i am i can drive the car with a freshly charged battery for bout 3 days but slowley my battery drains as i drive until the car will just shut of while im driving i keep a spare bat in the back replace it and the car starts but slowly starts to drain and the cycle continues charge the battery run a while charge run awhile. yet the turn signals ac heater still dont work
ive checked the bat cables their good, tooken it to have the bat and alt tested and it passes
im doing the multi meter test when i get off work to see if i have drain will all this i kno its alot sry
what could it be

forgot

when the alt ceased up and the serpentine belt broke the car got hot real hot i was close to home so i got it there
but it was hot the alt was smoking but the the temp gauge was almost all the way up

take a pair of jumper cables, attach one end to your alternator bracket, the other to the negative post on your battery. See if this cures your problem.

okay i will as soon as i get off work and report the outcome
thank you
just connect the neg jump cable to the neg post do i leave the neg terminal on or off? and the pos to the alt bracket? correct

no, connect one end of the neg cable to the alt bracket, and the other end of the same cable to the neg on the battery, making a new more direct ground,

okay i got it
one neg jumper cable to the alt bracket
the other neg jumper cable to the negative battery post
thanks

yup, same thing I let you know in PM.... sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. I suggested doing this because all of your problems can be caused by a bad engine ground, and if this is the case, it is a cheap and easy fix. In fact, the 92 I have right now had the very same problem when I bought it.... well that and badly corroded cables... Now it has a bunch of 4 and 2 gauge ground wires run all over the place, so I doubt I will ever have grounding problems again.

okay i got home and i tried what you guys said
first i used a set of light duty jumpers and it wouldnt turn over
so i got a pair of heavy duty jumpers and tried it and it turned over
but the problem with battery still was happening and the a/c and heater and blinker didnt work
but then i went in the car and uncovered the fuse pannel under the driverside dash and when i unplug #1 fuse then plug it back in it sparkes is it supose to do that?
or could my multifunction switch gone out and thats y everything doesent work?
i tried a multimeter test with car off between the neg battery terminal and the post and it read 0 i did it on 10amps d/c
but it only drains when the car is running is their a way to test 4 a short while the car is on?
could it be a bad power distribution box?

but any imput would be greatly appreciated

and my neighbor told me that since my abs light is on and my battery is draining he told me its like a code for the alt not charging the battery
he told me to check the auto belt tensener that some times if that is bad then the alt wont charge the battery and thats why the ac heater blinkers dont wrk

If the belt is losing he is right it very well could keep it from charging at all or fully as the pulley could be slipping on the belt. Check the tightness of the belt and also the free movement of the pulleys on the tightener and idler. Also look that belt over really good to make sure you have not damaged it from this also.

Honestly, it could be any number of things. You will just need to start testing circuits for a high amp draw. Start with checking your ignition switch though.
