I am mounting a billet grill on a '98 Explorer XLT.

1. How do you remove the Ford emblem in the middle of the grille with the grill still on the vehicle?

2. How do you remove the grill? Thanks for any advice.

I have not done it but the Haynes manual says:
Remove the radiator/light shield. Remove the headlights. Remove the grill mounting screws and disengage it from the four clips along the bottom of the grill opening. (Pull it off)
Sounds like a job...
I had a billitt grill I got off Ebay and it just zip tyed right over the grill. I didnt have to remove anything. Course I couldnt open the hood and maby thats why I dont have it anymore.
Good luck...

hey bill.. do u stil have the billet grille?

Removing the grill only requires the removal of the corners, not the headlights. The Ford emblem is held on by two hex nuts that can be easily removed.

Nope..Sold it on Ebay.

for my billet grill i had to take it to a shop where they cut the old grill out and replaced it with the new billet. install at the shop (AMA Truck Toppers) cost $60. it depends what grill you get. heres a pic installed
