phat01' even if Vortec made a supercharger, you would still be limited in your boost to around 6lbs like on the explorer express unit. KABOOM said the sohc

And Expo is right, swap in a 5.0 or 347, a supercharger running that low of boost - you'd have a hard time keeping up with n/a 5.0's with some mods like expo5.0's. He wasn't trying to be a dick or anything, he's right, it's just not efficient or worth it to modify a sohc. And the mods you listed, you have to remember the sohc does not respond well to mods which is a rarity for a Ford engine.

I think my SOHC has responded very well to my chip and exhaust. I can tell its got a lot more pep to it than it did when I got it. That doesnt mean I can smoke anything on the road, but it is quick.

the sohc will respond, just not like an 5.0, mainly b/c the sohc has high compression and is already in a fairly high state of tune. I think it has the best growl out of all the new V6 suvs, that GMC inline 6 sounds harsh like metal on metal, no where near the sound that BMW's inline 6 makes in the X5.
