I have read the threads here on this site about replacing this thing. I posted a topic about it awhile back with a picture shown here.

I spoke with the guys over at heatertreater.net, and they are starting to confuse me. They said their blend door kit WOULD NOT fix my problem because my door is vacuum actuated and not from an electrical box one like I see posted on here.

I thought I would come back to the experts here to confirm. Based on my image here, what are really my options? Heatertreater states I would have to replace the whole plenum which I do not have the tools or the equipment to evacuate and AC system and all that crap. Thanks for the help!

As far as I know, the actuator in your post is NOT a picture of a "blend door actuator". In the link below, BigRondo's post, look at the 1st and 2nd photo (not the tool list photo) in his repair post. The white box looking thing with an armature sticking out of it. That is what a Blend Door Actuator looks like. Blend door actuators only blend or control the air temp you select to come thru the dash vents, but it doesn't control what dash vents get used.

Don't hold me to it, I could be wrong, but I think your photo is of a vacuum run actuator possibly for changing the selection of air flow thru certain dash vent passages. It works a different kind of door from the blend door actuator. I remember looking at old posts and seeing photo's of what is in your picture and people rigged various things up to connect the silver colored arm coming out of the back of the actuator to the broken, black plastic arm coming out of the plenum wall. I think some used zip ties or screws to connect them up and getting it working again. Use the search box at the top of the forum and look for old posts related to "broken vacuum run vent door actuators". Something along those lines.
