Blinkers stop when i adjust my tilt steering??

I need some help, i have a 2002 explorer sport and everything works fine with the tilt all the way up on the steering wheel but as soon as i put the tilt down my blinkers stop working. Anyone have any ideas or input with similar issue? any responses greatly appreciated.

You have a short in the multifunction switch that controls your blinkers. You will probably have to take the cover off of the steering column and see if you can find any exposed wires. If not you will need to remove the switch and check it or possibly replace it.

yeah i took it off just a little bit ago and the connection to the switch was loose... i somehow have to try and make some slack in the wiring harness

Check to make sure the clips that hold the connector to the MFS isn't broke, same here. I put it on as tight as possible, adjusted my wheel. Since I'm the only one who drives this truck then I have no need to move the wheel really.

yeah looking further into it it the wires were so tight that it broke the clip off the connection that connects to the MFS, there was also a coat hangar like wire that was binding the wires too tight allowing for no slack.. i took that off and now there's enough play in the wires to adjust the tilt, and everything works. I taped it up and i hope it stays in place now. if it eventually starts coming out again do you think the only way to fix it is to rewire the wires to a new connection that will then plug into the MFS?

That would be a good solution, yes. Just make sure you match the wires. My question is... Ford didn't make it like this.. where did the original slack all go?... o.0
