check the fluid level and condition. how many miles and months does the fluid have?

15,000 looked clean and was full

Do you have to get it moving fast and then coast to get it to upshift? My trans was doing that, I had to get up to about 25-30 at least then let off and it would shift. Mine was caused by a snapped second gear band. My truck was missing 2nd gear and shifting from 1st to 3rd.

kinda sounds like same thing

PoP is droping it off at AAMCO today to let them take a look at it.

Ur probably gonna need a rebuilt trans. Mine did this same thing, you had to let off on it to get it to shift into third, and it turned out i needed a new valve body or somethin and some bands...bill was like $1500 for all that crap, but i had a warranty so it didnt cost me

BOOM

just got off the phone with AAMCO I droped a band so i have no second gear. They can rebuild it with all the updates for $1200.00 and change. If it needs to have the tourqe converter replaced another $300.00 This board has been a life saver I kinda knew what he was talking about and i did not sound like a idoit talking to the tec. heres a qustion would it be worth it to have the converter replaced anyway?

Yup.

I've been very happy with Cottman Transmissions. They're more expensive, but you get what you pay for. I'd get a second opinion.

I got ripped off by Cottmans. I don't think AAMCO gets high marks either. If they will rebuild a trans without changing the torque converter I certainly wouldn't let them touch my truck. 300 seems a little pricey for a converter also.

nah I priced every transmission place here in Frederick and the least inexpensive place that would give a warranty was aamco for $2500. It must be nice to live in a place that will rebuild for cheaper.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaa

Got my baby back yesterday wife and father picked it up so she was sitting in the driveway waiting for me:p
The Wife is convinced that I love the truck more then her. Ha Ha Ha well yea. Grand total was 1891.15. I stopped by and while they where showing me around the found two worn wires in the wire harness with the wrap worn away. They put a new torque converter on not the same type. They said mine was a three plate converter they replaced it with a single plate? Serviced my transferee case. They showed me the broken band and the difference between (not sure of the name) the plunger things that gets cooked by the catalytic converter. They were rock hard. Over all the guys were great had a box of doughnuts sent to them. I took her out for a drive seems to shift just like it did before I lost second. I will wait for 5 or 6 day then I'm going to take it to worten state forest and give it a little workout.:D

I would like to thank everybody for all your help. :smoke:
