I just brought home our 2000 Eddie Bauer Explorer and I noticed that the blower (Fan) will erratically change from off to mid to high in no specific order. What would be causing this? I was thinking the resistor or possibly a relay? Any help would greatly be appreciated, thanks!

Welcome to this forum! Have you checked the resistance of the coils on the resistor? What about the plug on the blower, and the resistor? You might want to check for corrosion. An anitoxidant might be a good idea to put on those plugs.

Thanks for the helpful information. I have that digital readout that came on the Eddie Bauers not the standard knob style controls, does mine still have a resistor? Sorry for my lack of knowledge in this area, I'm pretty proficient with electronics, but this has gotten me stumped. Thanks!

Check the area near the blower motor for the resistor. It is held in place by 2 small bolts. It's possible that the automatic climate controls use a different method. You might be able to get more information from the CD downloads on WWW.FordCDs.Com.
