Blown Intake Gasket

Recently i blew an intake Gasket, i was about 20 miles form the nearest town, so had no choice but to nurse it up there. i was going through about a gallon of coolant about every 8 miles, and the temp guage did get up there, but never in the danger zone. the outside air temp was arounr -5 so i though i may be o.k. just nurse up there until i could get it fixed.

I'm wondering if i could have caused any major problems to the heads, but letting it get a little hot like that. and not towing it the rest of the way. I did pull over every 8 miles or so and dump more in to keep it cool. I'm just real parenoid. thanks for the help

As long as your not blowing lots of smoke and it runs normally after you get the intake fixed, you should be OK. You can try doing a compression test (I think that would show if things are OK, but I'm not a mechanic) Other than tearing it down, those are the only ways I know of to find out.
