So i was looking at my sport a few days ago, and i have had a few people on here who helped my make my sport one of the lowest ive seen..
But........ I want lower, and i noticed the body mounts are about 2" thick.
My question is has anyone ever taken them out and cut them?? Is it ever possible due to clearance?
Thanks!!

It would be a difficult thing to do. The mounts aren't just rubber that can be easily cut. There is a steel sleeve that goes through the center as well. I'm sure you could do it, but it would be a ton of work to get just a little.

If you want to try it, I'd suggest getting a spare mount (either junkyard or new from dealer- they are about $20 each) and see if you can cut that rubber/sleeve in half. I tried to cut through one with my sawzall while it was on the truck and didn't get too far. Doing it on a bench might make it possible.

Could always try a band saw

In my opinion, The inch or so you get out of this isnt worth the effort unless you are 2 inches off the ground and want the gap closed. If you are still a few inches off the ground I wouldnt bother. How about air bags? I know thats a different animal than a nearly free mod but the difference would be in your face obviouse.

My plan was to take it to work and just do one is at a time, pull out the mounts and messure them and cut about an inch out, then put them back in, while i have stands supporting the body. I think the body might rub the top of the fuel tank, but im not too sure, just wanted to see if anyone has tried it,

Alil about me i am all about being different, my plan it to do a body mount drop,
And as i have another thread i am going to attempt a 2.3 turbo swap in my sport as well, its all about time, and i just want to be the one who stands out! Wish me luck and thank you for all the help

Im not saying its a bad idea, I was thinkin about doing that with my old Ranger I had but the bed posed a seriouse problem lol. Anyway, good luck with it. I know we'll be seein some pics of something!

Horizontal band saw will cut em.
I don't see any issues, I think theres a good inch or so of clearance with the gas tank. Although you lower the tank. What about the hood clearing the intake? I think the trans gets pretty close to

Well again thats why i asked if anyone has attempted it, but hey ill be the ginnypig, worse thing is i have to put some factory bushings back in,
And i know i may seem crazy but thats my middlr name,
And i swear when i was a kid i wanted to put an LT1 in a 240sx.. someone stole my design! Lol but i know it has been done before.. anyway pics will be as soon as i actually get on a computer, i do everytging on my phone!!
