there are a couple that have done body drops on 1st gens, and there's a handfull of 2nd gens around the net, but you won't find any useful information here about them.

I'm also looking to lower the body on my explorer. My suspension is bone stock, but i have the factory air ride which i want to leave untouched.

just to let you know the point of a body drop is to get the body level with the bottom of the frame so when u drop ur truck to the ground the body lays out with the frame.
