I am considering a body lift for my Explorer....I have done one on my Ranger so I know the pros/Cons.

My Q is what kinda surprises can I expect?

It has an automatic....are there any mods I need to consider for this? (column mount). How about the fuel filler?.is there enough slack to merely move the rubber tube?

As far as the bumpers, big gaps, moving rad shroud. I pretty much know what to execpt here.

Thanks in advance for any WOW.

Matt (2001ExpSport ) has done several body lifts. I believe he is one of the more knowledgeable people on this site on this topic. He has an excellent write-up on lifting his truck:

I’m sure this will answer any questions you have.

Peace

cool. thank you...

it was a tad vague on the bumper instal. but I guess I have a 92.....totally different i guess. But all the same.thank you.

i did one on my 92, you have to do nothing with the fuel filler and the tranny, the only thing you have to look out for is whn you are jacking the truck up make sure the wires have slack enought ot move, i belive there are 2 either on the transfer case or tranny that have to be pulled out of there clips, no big deal really, just take your time and be aptient, about halfway through you'll realize that its not as fun as you thohgt it would be. the worst part is the damn bumper brackets, i made new ones out of 2x4's for the rear anyway. good luck and i'll be here if you have any questions

A couple more considerations...

Block up your spare tire crank mechanism the same height as the body lift. This will allow you to access the crank through the existing hole.

Double check for correct bolt length for the pair that go in under the rear seat. If they are too long, they may contact the fuel tank.

Make sure your garage door is tall enough to clear with the new lift... :)
