Do you have to have manual transmission to instal a body lift? I have been looking at getting a body lift, but I keep seeing that body lifts will not work on automatic transmission. Is this true? Thanks

Not true at all. There are lots of people with body lifts that have automatics.

2"

Sinjin,

Im interested in getting a 2" done. Ive checked out your site. Its cool. However, I have factory step bars. How could you move those up since they are attached to the frame? Gotta keep those for the ladies.

Soup,
I'm not too sure about the step bars, I had some on my truck, and they just went up with the body, are you positive they are frame mounted?

Ya know what Ill take a peek later. I just assumed. Did you need any of those gap guard things? How much did it cost you to get it installed? I assume I can order the 2" kit from the same place you got your 3" one from huh..

Soup,
Yaa i thought mine was frame mounted also until I took a look at it. Not sure what you mean about the gap thingys, with a 2" lift you probably wont have to worry about any gaps. Installation, I was lucky enough to find GJarrett and Gofast on this board and we did it ourselves. Yep, and you can order the lift from the same place listed on my site, however do a little shopping might find a better price.
Hope this Helps,
Rod

Your bars are not mounted to the frame. They are mounted via L-brackets bolted to the body: 3 on each side of a Sport, 4 brackets on 4drs.

If you have room at the "L" to raise up your nerf bar it would be a very simple matter to drill new holes in the brackets to remount them higher. You'll need to grind out some of the plastic cover on the bracket so it could clear the bottom of the body. The top of the bracket will also bump into the bottom of the floor and have to be ground off. But it would be an easy fix to gain an extra inch of clearance.
