I took off the body trim on my 99 Sport to make it all black. With the gray trim off it looks awsome, but the only problem is the holes from the trim. How can i fix those to make em look better. I was thinken of body filler then primering it black to match the truck.. Need some ideas of what to do next

The only way to fill the holes properly is to weld them shut. Applying filler over the open holes will eventually crack and fall out.

To fill those tiny holes correctly, you must first hammer them in a little and then sanding the surrounding holes (atleast 2" in diameter) until rough enough to hold the Bondo Filler. I would leave the painting to the professionals as you cannot match your body paint by just using spray cans you get from auto store.

...Or you could just weld them shut. ;)

You can pound, hammer, scuff, all you want, but Bondo isn't meant to fill open holes. That'll last about a week before it falls off. The only real option is to have them welded up.

If the holes aren't more than 1/4" big and with the proper prepping, Bondo filler would stick to last- THIS I know for a fact.

cant post pics. no camera :( im goin to try to fill the holes tomorrow, there only 1/4" holes so the bondo will work. if that doesnt look good then im throwing the molding back on. Does anyone know if its common for an antilock brake to be on and you not no it? like does the explorer keep the brake on even when u take it off. im wanderin cuz something caused my rotor to have a big grove right in the center, but only on the drivers side. not passanger side. Here is my homepage to view my truck as it was before christmas

Trying to fill in flush holes with Bondo will not work. There is nothing for it to grip to.

That is why I suggested sanding the surrounding hole atleast 2" wide to have the Bondo to hold on to. But before applying it you must first hammer the area in- about 1/8" deep. It should work. I've done it to fill the hole from an Antenna from my Camaro. That was at least 1/2" hole but I did use mesh grille so it wouldn't crack in.

if you can get to the holes from the backside, JB Weld a dime/nickel over the hole on the back, then fill in the hole with more JB Weld. sand smooth, and paint. sounds incredibly ghetto, but believe it or not it works.
