Hey, I found a deal, $200 for a pair of EGR Borlas w/ Y-Pipe. That's a pretty good price, right? How easy would these be to install, such as getting to the manifolds + sliding in ... Would I need to wrap something around them so they don't heat up anything? Thanks!

That's a very good price.

You'll probably want to wrap them with insulating header tape before the install. Install isn't the easiest project by any means, but it can be done. You'll need enough room under the truck to work comfortably and efficiently, and will probably need moral support and someone to hand you tools.

Alec, do you recommend I do this my self or get it done? I've never done it, but know what needs to be done. On a Cadillac a while back the manifold bolts were very tight, needed the 1/4 set, will they be this way on the X also? What's the EGR, the silver tube that runs to the driver side manifold? Thanks!

Aren't the Borla's high temp coated? If so they should keep the under hood temps down. Well at least that's how they are advertised. I would like the shiney hedders under my hood! Also, would the heat wrap collect mud, water and dirt? I've never had hedders that were wrapped before.

O.K. I'm done!!

I think the Borlas are just straight stainless, they'll perform better if wrapped. And header tape won't collect any more debris than bare pipes.

Husky, if you want to you can attempt it yourself. Just be prepared for it to take longer than expected and to possibly be without a truck for a day if you mess something up.

I thought wrap trapped moisture and made them rust through more quickly....

Not stainless :D

Stainless? WOW! Didn' know that. Even better!

I'd be all giddy about getting new headers too but it'd be incorrect to say that stainless steel does not rust. :(

Stainless is what it's called and while it certainly will resist stains, it isn't rust proof, only rust resistant. Still, it should work more than admirably with nary a worry.
