First time, long time...great forum, used the instructions here to change out my right front hub a month or two ago, great stuff.
New problem, this is on a 99 sport sohc 4wd, 151,000:
On a 5 hour drive today I started noticing a clicking/clunk type noise in the front of the vehicle when accelerating away from a stop. The noise increased in frequency as I accelerated and then became hard to hear or notice at high speed, although I could feel a very minor vibration. Very similar to sharkbaits post below...
Checked front hubs and brakes, everything was tight, havent looked into it much further, but I fear it might be the transfer case or something bigger, and here is why:
I was pulling into a parking stall to get turned around when my drive was over, and it was a little snowy...I got stuck! I never get stuck in snow with this truck. First I tried 4 wheel high, and my rears just spun, and continued to spin when I let off the gas.. This is all in reverse by the way.
Tried 4 wheel low, and still the same problem...put it back in auto and I was able to back out with a lot of gas, and the click/clunk kind of turned into a duck type sound at the peak of my RPMs..
After getting out, sound was still there...any Ideas what I am looking at? I can't imagine this is one I can tackle in my garage and I am not looking forward to the cost...
