My Explorer has just failed its MOT for both bottom ball joints which I need to replace. I’ve located a pair of BJ’s on eBay at a staggering cost of £22 including postage. They’ll be here in a few days but in the meantime can anyone tell me what sort of a job it is to replace these?

And also I need to have a look at the ABS sensor on the offside, I’m not sure whether it need replacing of re-setting. If in need to replace it does anyone know of a supplier or must I go to Ford for the part?

Well they don't do a new ABS sensor by itself in the UK, comes compelte with a HUB. If you are _sure_ you need a new sensor, then get a known good second hand sensor and some contact cleaner.

My ABS now works just fine (i.e. no judder).

As for the lower balljoints, my spidey sense tells me that Howard will have a 'how to' posted up soon ;)

If you search "front lower ball joint" you'll find in the list a good "how to" by a chap called mountaingreen. lots of pics too.
