i bought four 5x7s bostons for my doors and i took apart the left doors and now my factory speakers don't work. i tried to put in the new ones and they don't work. the power windows still work but not speakers. any one know what could be wrong?

that's pretty weird...all i can think of is if the wires got pinched near the door hinge and shorted or something? what kind of bostons did you get? i'd recommend you take some resistance measurements at the speaker wires with the radio off, and voltage with it on and playing something. does the radio apper to still function normally?

they're the brand new silver ones, i'm not sure the model #, but they look nice. the radio works fine still and the speakers on the right side still work fine. my friend joe and i are going to check where the factory amp was to see if something is wrong there. we took the amp out last week and i never bothered to actually check to see if all the speakers were working. so maybe we'll find something else out today.

could it be possible that by coincidence a connector on the amp came loose? the fact that it's the entire left side tat doesn't work and the entire right does leads me to believe that it's something in the amp itself, or in the wiring close to the amp going to the speakers. where is your amp located?

it's just the stock amp, but we think we know what the problem is. when we removed the stock amp thats when the power cut off we just didn't notice it until now. then joe messed around with behind the cd player and now we have to go get another amp bypass kit (lost mine) and see if it works now. i will be doing that today so i'll post results.
