Ok i just picked up a 10 inch Infinity Kappa Perfect single voice coil. The recommended box volume for sealed enclosure is 0.65 cubic feet. here's my problem.

I found two boxes.
first box- the 3/4 inch MDF box is .66 cubic feet internal volume.
second box- made of 5/8 MDF box is 0.80 cubic feet internal volume.

Both boxes are the same price. which do you think is a better box? thanks.

The first box, hands down, if both are sealed. You want the box volume to match that which Infinity recommends, and the first box is thicker, allowing for less flex.

You may want to find out if that .65 includes the displacement of the sub or not also... You may need to get a box that is .65 plus the sub displacement or one that is .65 including the sub displacement... You should be able to get that info from Infinity...

Heath is right, that needs to be facotred in as well, but I'd think Infinity would factor that in, most companies do.

whattya mean most companies do? like include the displ. in the measurement of the box......? if that s a dumb q, then it was probably the way i was thinking of it.......

displacement for a fat 10 is roughly .05 cu. ft. so add that in, but get the correct specs from infinty

infinity kappa's are supposed to have really small boxes. you could have one custom made but if you just have one ten, get the first box.
