I am going to attempt bleeding the brakes on my Explorer and my GFs RX300 tomorrow. I've been able to find all the info for the Lexus, but not much for the Explorer. Can anyone answer these questions?

1) ABS Bleeding - Everyone says that you need to have a special dealer tool. However, on the Lexus forums they say you can bleed them by having the key in the "On" position - this gives power to the ABS pump and allows bleeding of the ABS system through the normal route. Everyone on here says to have the engine off - what gives?

2) Bleeding order - I know that you have to do it from the farthest wheel to the closest (PR, DR, PF, DF) p = passenger / d = driver. However, has anyone confirmed that the way the lines are routed on the Explorer that this is actually true? Some of the Lexus models this is not the case.

3) Dot 3 vs. Dot 4 - I have been researching this and it appears that the wet boiling point of DOT 4 is higher, but water contamination makes it drop much more than DOT 3. Thoughts?

4) What size hose to use? 3/8"?

Thanks!
