I use a product called Brake Dust Buster from P&S sales. They are a California based company and the closest dealer to you is in Rhode Island. You probably want to check with a car detailer supplier in your area. Also try asking a automotive paint supplier if they carry a similar product.
Most of the black brake dust is from the semi metallic pads. On my 03 the books calls for organic pads, factory installed is also organic. On my Ranger trucks I switched from semi metallic to ceramic pads and I didn't have to clean front wheels often.
I thought all chemicals used in California had to be edible? Thus useless.
So, like many of us, I bought my Ex used. There's the everyday use brake dust that just washes off with a sponge and there is the won't come off stuff from the previous owner that is in all the nooks and crannies.
Does this wonder chemical from California get rid of the 100 year old brake dust remnants?
Number4...haha...as you said we here in CA have our quirks. That being said I have used the product for heavy older dust and had some pretty good results. Tyleryac should go to a supplier for car detailers or body shops to see what available. Mequiers have a few product such Hot Rim All wheels and tire cleaner.I went for the stuff available thru auto detailer supply house. It's a little more industrial strength and yes even in CA.LOL
