How does everyone feel about our pads and dust? I've only had my car(2017 Limited)about a month and the wheels still seem pretty clean. For those of you who have had your car a while do the pads get dustier with mileage? TIA

Hi Tom. There haven't really been complaints about this issue. One thing you may want to keep in mind, particularly if you have a white or light coloured vehicle is that you may notice small orange type spots on the liftgate after a while. Those would be caused by brake dust and are easily removed. I removed a few from my previous 2011 Limited with just using my fingers to pop them off. You will likely get some 'dust' on the wheels after a while.

Thanks for the reply. My wife's previous car (2007 Edge) had horrible brake dust and I switched to Akebono pads and life was good. Good to know that this isn't an issue

Not bad. I'd take some extra dust for better stopping power, though. Even with "heavy duty" calipers (lol), the brakes still seem a bit overmatched.

I'm pleased that the OEM pads on my Ex do not give me grief. My BMW on the other hand drove me crazy. Wash the car, clean the wheels, go for a two hour non performance drive, come home, and the front wheels have 'five o'clock shadow'...clean wheels again. I too changed all pads out to 'Akebono' ceramic pads.

The orange spots on my white Ex is brake dust?? I thought is was some sort of environmental fallout. Not easy at all to remove for me, involves quite a bit of elbow grease using wax.

I just checked out the old thread on this and the initial though it was 'rail dust'. Since some members have had a reoccurance of the issue I still think it is brake dust as I explained in that thread on page 3 after doing an Internet search.

certainly is recurring on my Ex, funny thing is my jeep is also white minus the orange dots. I'm going to clay a portion then wax over. That might be a better option than just waxing.

Use a clay bar. Much more effective
