Brake Fade

2003 Mazda B3000 135000 miles

I hear a loud Clunk from the front end and then the brakes began to fade just before the roll stops. This doesn't occur every stop but is becoming more frequent. I suspect wheel sensors but I have never got an ABS light. Any help will be appreciated.

Bolts are tight. It feels like my anti-lock system is detecting a skid and is releasing. I have never got an ABS light. Strange.

Safely support both front tires off the ground and clean both ABS sensors. While they're out, use brake cleaner with the spray tube spinning the wheel slowly to clean the tone rings. Amazing the amount of magnetic hair and dirt that sticks to the magnetic sensor tips. No guarantee to fix your fade or pull, but should be cleaned periodically anyway. GL

Regarding your "clunk". Inspect EVERYTHING while you have the front suspension unloaded with the wheels off
the ground. Usual suspects include lower and upper ball joints, sway bar end links and frame bushings, upper and
lower control arms, shock mounts, etc.
