Brake light question - Did I do the right thing?
Hey all. Last night when I got back to my parked my X, I took of the parking brake and the light still stayed on. The truck has about 26,500 miles (got it used) so I was hoping it wasn't anything serious as the dealer told me they would replace the brakes if the wear on the pads was more than 50% (and they did cut the rotors).
I popped the hood and looked at the fluid level and it was full so then I searched the board and someone mentioned it could be the pin sticking for the parking brake pedal. I looked at it again this morning and the brake light turned off whe I released the parking brake but I played around with the switch and put some light house hold oil in there and worked it in so it operated smoothly.
I'm pretty sure that this was the problem, but I just wanted to check that it couldn't be anything else. There seem to be no leaks in the system and brakes are working fine.
Did I do the right thing?
Thanks!
