Hello Everyone
Im happy to meet all Explorer owners!
I have a question regarding brake pedal switch.
Brake lights only come on when i push brake pedal really hard, otherwise they dont when braking lightly.
Is there a way to adjust the sensor?
Has anyone had similar issues?
I drive Ford Explorer Sport 1st gen.
Thank You all in advance.

It's a momentary switch that is activated when the pedal is pushed. Look under the dash and you will see the switch, which fits on the bar that connects the booster rod to the pedal. You will most likely you will need a new switch. They wear out over time, but maybe the tabs are bent that push the spring that push the switch. They are inexpensive and take less than five minutes to replace. They are available at most auto parts stores, and on-line.

I had to do this when I first got my '93 a couple years ago. Just replace it, the only difficult bit is the position you have to be in to do it.

Ditto to the responses here. The switch has no real adjustment. The clearance from the flat on the pushrod and the brake switch assembly is set by the assembled parts. Make sure the plastic bushings are in good shape around the brake pedal dowel. Slop there can cause issues with the switch activation.
