i recently had my 98 explorer wired for towing,prior to this the fuse had blown preventing the brake lights from working i told the chap who wired the car for towing which he checked it out for me.he pointed out that i had a brake light switch problem which i replaced with a brand new one from a ford dealer but the fuse still keeps blowing has anyone had similar problems or any suggestions i am baffled

A bulb housing can also do this. Pull the brake lights out and take a good look at them and the housing while your looking at the wires.
 






thanks ill try to see if there is a bare wire anywhere.thanks for feedback much appreciated
 






Where did they splice into the OEM wiring at? If they connected it at the lights, rip that garbage out of there and get the correct part. Any Ford dealership will sell the correct pigtail that simply plugs in behind the driver's side taillight. That wiring is entirely isolated from the tow vehicle's, so a trailer's defective wiring can't hurt the tow vehicle.

many thanks aerostar man you have come top man once again one of the wires was slightly bare ,insulated it all is well .oh thanks for tip about site for radio problem.
