Hey Guys,
Brand new to the forum...have been reading the odd post here and there regarding the Explorer.
Just bought a new 2017 Explorer XLT and have not had a new vehicle for a while now.
Is there a requirement to drive gently over the first 1000KM or 600 Miles anymore?
Or, should you just drive it as you normally would. In the old days, I recall that you were not to exceed 100KM/HR or 60 Miles per hour for the first 600 miles.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks.
Looks like a very good forum I just joined.

Drive it like you normally would varying rpms over longer periods of travel.

Thanks blwnsmoke.
So, here is the dilemma....suppose to be going on an 8 hour trip Saturday and picking the car up on Thursday.
The speeds will likely be all in the same gear doing roughly 100-120 km/hr.
I am thinking that would not be good for the vehicle.
No?

Thanks

There is information in the Owner's Manual on this. You can download a PDF copy or check it out from here; https://owner.ford.com/tools/accoun...sults.html?year=2017&make=Ford&model=Explorer See page 248 Breaking-In. Also page 175 concerning mileage calculation.

I'd just drive it and not worry. My last 2 vehicles I bought out in MI and drove them home (about 900 miles). It was all highway driving. Just drive, don't put too much thought into it.
